Ten randomly distributed broken wires in one rope lay or five broken wires in one strand in one rope lay. Snagged, nicked or severely bent wires count as broken wires. 2.  Abrasion, scrubbing or peening causing loss of more than 1/3 the original diameter of outside individual wires. 3.  Evidence of rope deterioration from corrosion. 4.  Kinking, crushing or other damage that results in detrimental distortion of the rope structure. 5.  Any evidence of heat damage including bare electrical conductor, ground, or welding arc. 6.
